As we know, content is one of the most important aspects of any website (and some would argue that it is actually the most important aspect).
If we accept this premise, how do you decide whether your law firm’s website has all the content it needs to be successful, and how do you know when you need to add more content.
Since it’s well-known that content is important for websites, the legal industry has been churning out website content for years. At this point, there is a TON of legal content out there already.
Therefore, it’s just a matter of making sure that your law firm’s content comes up on top.
Content Overload Scenario
Imagine a small law firm generating more than 4,000 pages of content at a rate of roughly 25 new pages a month.
On the surface, this sounds amazing! However, under the surface, it borders on content overload. By trimming down to around 40 percent of this, the small firm can expect an increase in performance and traffic by upwards of 50%.
Wait…what?
So you’re telling me to write LESS content??
It goes against conventional wisdom, we know. Here’s why:
By taking out the outdated content and indexing it, your overall website will seem more polished and professional in the eyes of search engines.
On the Flip Side
Of course, the above scenario is rare. More often, law firms don’t have the time or resources to devote to content generation, leading to the opposite and more common problem of a lack of sufficient information.
If a legal website doesn’t have enough content, they can expect to see lower traffic volumes, less inquiries and fewer cases. If viewers don’t have enough content to view, they will be less likely to visit again and search engines will not have enough keywords to use to direct traffic to the site.
